Why I'm Not Blogging As Often As I Would Like

'Cause I feel LIKE SHIT. And given the current state of my digestive and other gastro systems SHIT is the most appropriate word. Seriously, I'm not blogging because I'm pooped. Or am pooping. And when I'm not shitting my brains out I'm blowing my nose due to the cold.that.will.not.go.away.

But a big surprise is in store for my loyal readers (all 2 of you). So stayed tuned. And I promise to keep the pooping posts to a minimum.

Another Example of How NOT to Keep House

Another forray into the kitchen, only this time it was to peer into the refrigerator. Looking past the iced tea & condiments I found a glass of chocolate milk FROM TWO WEEKS AGO. Do you know how disgusting chocolate milk is after sitting in the refrigerator FOR TWO WEEKS? Ewww....

In preparation for some minor surgery I had to have some pre-op tests done. I decided to use the services of the hospital where I'm having the surgery. My whole point in going there (as opposed to my dr) was so that I wouldn't have to run to all these different places, you know, one stop shopping. After calling TWICE to confirm I could have all the tests done there you know (and this is after being there for 2 hours) they told me I couldnt do the medical clearance there. So I had to go to my dr. after all -- where again I had to wait. And wait some more. Finally, it's my turn. And do you know what the dr. told me? That she couldn't complete all the forms 'cause the place where I had the lab work done has to send her the results. Geez Louise, c'mon, give a sick girl a break already. If I wasn't already sick, dealing with the health care system would make you sick. And I'm not even start bitching about my insurance.

I'm looking forward to chilling out this weekend, maybe catching up on some sleep, the rest of Season 2 of Nip / Tuck and playing lots o Scrabble.

All Hail the Pale Hose

Congratulations to the White Sox on winning the World Series. All the games were rather close (decided by 1 or 2 runs) and exciting. The White Sox just flat out out-played the Astros -- I thought the Astros would get a least 1 win -- and game 3 looked like it was going to be the one, with Oswalt on the mound, a 4 run lead... talk about destiny. While I'm happy for the White Sox, I'm a little sad today, as there is now no more baseball until the Spring. Which sucks because now I actually have to get a life. On the other hand, I don't have to hear Tim McCarver blather on any more this season. And does anyone else hate Chris Berman, his annoying voice and infantile nicknames? Jermaine "Live & Let" Dye???

Before the game last night there was a tribute to the "Latin Legends" of baseball & A-Rod was there, representing the DR. That's the only way you're going to the world series, buddy with the way you played. Should call him O-Rod for the # of RBI's he had in the Division Series. Fucking a-hole.

If you like baseball & like to laugh go visit Alex @ fuckyourcouch.blogspot.com. (sorry, I'm a techo spaz and can't figure out how to put a link in the text).

Life in the Slow Lane

The past few months at TCTPMS have passed by in a total blur -- every day has been full of non-stop, heart pumping, get your motor running action -- there were clients to call, reps to rendezvous with, and details to deal with. And now? Nothing. All action has come to a screeching halt. It's a normal part of the cycle but you know what? I'm bored. And tired. And I'd much rather be home. It's really quite tiresome doing nothing all day. And I find it harder to get motivated to do the few meager tasks I have to do. The first fews days I welcomed the lack of chaos and the quiet. Now? BLAH!!

Blown To Smithereens

Look what I got today courtesy of B, I'm so excited. See why I like him? I would so totally be with him in a ny minute. Oh god, I really need to get a life. Or at least a date.

Oh and I totally need to learn how to link a previous post in a current post. Can anyone offer some advise that even a techno-idiot like myself can understand?

Pro Choice

All the talk of Harriet Mier and her (non) stance on abortion has made me think about abortion. More specifically, my abortions.

I had the first one in 1981 -- the summer after I graduated high school. I knew from the very minute my period was late that I was pregnant. I just felt different. Different and scared. Scared of the impact that my actions and decisions in the next few weeks would have on the rest of my life. When I told my boyfriend he was so kind, sweet & loving. Told me the decision was mine to make but he would support me in whatever decision I made. I never had a desire to have a kid, and certainly not have a kid at 18 -- not when the longed for freedom was right around the corner. I have never regretted my decision, but sometimes I think, I could have a kid that's XX years old and sometimes I wonder, had I had that baby, how different my life would be now.

Fast forward 10 years later -- me, taking a pregnancy test in the ladies room at work. Again, I didn't need a test to tell me what was going on. This time the boyfriend wasn't as kind and supportive, we really weren't in a good place and both knew the end was coming sooner rather than later. He was quite relieved that I didn't want to have his child.

So you can see why I support the pro-choice side of the abortion debate. And you can be anti-abortion but still be pro-choice. However, for those on the other side: if you don't believe in abortion fine, don't have one and don't accidentally knock anyone up. Don't impose your moralistic, puritanical views on my life. And did you ever notice how the most outspoken, the most outraged of the anti-abortion, anti-choice sector are men? DON'T FUCKING MESS WITH MY RIGHT TO CHOOSE ASSHOLES!!

My World In Pictures

I totally stole the idea for today's post: do a google image search and post an image of the following: the town you were born in, the town you live in now, your name, your grandmother's name, your favorite food, your favorite drink, your favorite song, and your favorite smell

Don't Misunderstand Me

Quick shout out to Fox for using "Don't Misunderstand Me" by
the Rossington Collins Band during the NLCS Game 4. It's one of my favorite songs (and bands) EVER. It almost makes up for having to listen to Steve Lyons.

I Think I Love You

In 1972, I was in 2nd grade and the hugest crush ever on David Cassidy. I watched the Patridge Family religiously, collected ever Teen Dream and Tiger Beat magazine, and basically lived and breathed David Cassidy. You might say I loved David Cassidy with every fiber of my being.

Eventually I moved on to other pin-up crushes, even had crushes on people who might return the feeling (SETH ROTH). However, it's true what they say, there's no love like your first love.

Rachel Ray I'm Not

Last night, after messing up the first batch of Stove Top Stuffing, I took inventory of my freezer:

1 -1/2 cartons of Marlboro Ultra Light Menthols
1 pack of off-brand cigarettes (my emergency pack)
1/2 bottle of Stoli
1/4 bottle of Jose Cuervo
2 empty ice cube trays
2 un-identified foil wrapped items
1 box of Ore Ida twice baked potatoes that have been in there for at least 2 years

Also, after much searching, realized I do not have 1 vegetable, frozen, canned or fresh in the entire apt.

Is it any wonder then that when I watch these cooking shows I marvel, not at the fabulous yummy dishes being created, but that they have the ingredients to MAKE these fabulous yummy dishes!!

Fall Foliage

In August of 1989 I took a job at THE COMPANY THAT PAYS MY SALARY (TCTPMS). Many, many years later I am still working at TCTPMS. During the course of my tenure there, I've met alot of great people and have made many friends. One of those people, whom like everyone but me, has moved onto different things is a larger than life character, a very kind, loving and generous man, has graciously hosted a TCTPMS reunion every autumn at his lovely (and I do mean LOVELY) home in Vermont. And when I say home, I mean 10 bedrooms, 6 bathroom (not exaggerating and probably undercounting) home. So I spent this past weekend in the company of former TCTPMS colleagues. There were about 20 of us and man, the food, the drinks, the fun and laughter never stopped flowing. We reminicised, we tried to remember whats-his-faces name and we had a full-blown blast. Not ones to let a little rain dampen our spirits, the party was non-stop. Let me tell you, those old guys can drink!!
Truly truly a great weekend. I'm already looking forward to next year's gathering.

If One More Asshole Calls Me To Talk About the Yankees

I'm going to scream. Yes, I know they lost and no, I don't want to talk about it. Fuck you dickheads like I want to talk to YOU about it. You wouldn't know a 6-4-3 double play if it hit you in the head!! I hate those people who don't know/care about baseball but once the playoffs start act all "did you see the game last night" like they know what the hell is going on. You watch one frigging game and now you're Joe Morgan? These people should be punished. Or banished.

OK, I'm not happy about the Yanks losing but c'mon now really. With the way they were pitching (badly), hitting (horribly), fielding (terribly) and running the bases (like shit) you don't win. You go home. No World Series for you. Fucking AROD. Mr. July. Man, when October rolls around his bat shuts down. It's not just with the Yanks, but when he was with Seattle too. Only then I was happy about it. My only consolation in all this is that the Red Sox lost too. So now both teams suck. Let's Go White Sox!

Now I just want to go home & sleep.

Can You Hear Me Now?

I have some free time at work today -- a rarity lately -- and I've been crusising the blog world. It's really amazing how many bloggers are so amazingly gifted and talented. Funny. Have something to say and actually say it.

I often find myself struck with inspiration for a post, snuggle up in front of the computer & WHAMO. Whatever cohesive thoughts I've had on the subject leave my head faster than .. well something very fast. Or I struggle with what I want to say & what my point is. Like now. I swear, I start typing and my mind goes ... blank. Just blank.

I guess my point is I'm still struggling to find my voice on the www. So to those who read this blog with any kind of frequency (Harvard?) THANK YOU. And a big shout out to Portugal, Canada & Switzerland, three places with a fair amount of people who find the life of a 42 year old, horny, baseball loving, people hating, chick in NYC to be utterly facinating. Or are using my blog as a cautionary tale of what happens if you don't eat your vegetables.

The Second Season: Poetry in Motion

If the Yanks win the next eleven, I'll be in heaven.

If they lose, I'll shower them with boos.

Fucking Away in Philly

This postcard is fucking hilarious, courtesy of LB. The caption underneath says "can we cut out the 'just friends' routine 'cos it's getting really boring and I just want to have sex with you" She attached a note saying I should give this to some guy I want to fuck. Now if you know me and LB you know this is the perfect thing for her to send me. LB has no trouble attracting men AT ALL. White men, black men, single, married or gay. Not a problem. I marvel at her ability to meet a man, have a drink and take him home and fuck him. She is absolutely fearless & free with guys. Meanwhile, I, on the other hand, well.... am quite the opposite. Tongue tied and awkward, nervous & shy, just the things that turn men on. OW! BABY! YOU LOOK & SOUND LIKE AN IDIOT, THAT GETS ME HOT. And that's even assuming I've made it to the conversation stage. I am HORRIBLE at making eye contact and god forbid I smile. Needless to say, I love going out with her so I can totally horn in on her action. Hmm... I think a trip down to Philly is in my near future.

We Won the AL East aka Holy Fucking Shit

Well I was wrong -- because Cleveland lost the last 2 games apparently the Yanks needed to win only today's game to clinch the AL East title and secure a playoff spot. And they did indeed win so we're going to playoffs and won their 8th straight division title. How'd that happen -- without looking up the stats I think the Yanks were in first place, by themselves, for a whooping total of 5 or 6 games, with another handful of games tied with the Red Sox. HOLY.FUCKING. SHIT.

Now come Tuesday, all that is thrown out the window. All those games mean nothing now. This is the second season, some would say the only one that counts. But all that can wait til Tuesday. Tonight we celebrate!
