Internet I'm off for a few days of fun 'n [hopefully] sun. Maybe a few drinks too!
See ya!
although i am not the first nyc blogger to bring this up i would just like to say to all the suitcase-wheeling, cell-phone talkers, big ass, slow as mother fucking molasses, carriage-wielding, spawn producing, ASSHOLES who are clogging the streets of midtown
GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!!!
I love so much of Todd's stuff it's hard to pick a favorite song. This is definitely in the running. Check out the lyrics.
The Wheel-Todd Rundgren
Some people say life's like a merry-go-round
I think it's more like a ferris wheel
'Cause sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down
Sometimes you just don't know what to feel
And just when you think you've got the game figured out
And you say you've had enough
The mysterious mad man with his hand on the lever
Don't seem to never ever want to let you off
You can't get off this wheel of karma
You can't stop the hands of time
Now I have a friend, I might have a few
Sometimes I think they just don't care
But I think sometimes they think the same thing of me, yeah
You might say we've got a problem there
You know we all got this habit
We like to talk too much
And that always tends to slow you down
But we never change direction
We just keep going round and round and round and round
And let me off this wheel of karma
Let me stop the hands of time
Seems like I've been around so many places
And I must have learned a lot of things
And although I ain't yet come up with a so-called answer
At least I think I finally learned how to sing
And there's just a few things I ain't got sorted out
Sometimes they make my brain get sore
Like if kids were left of all devices
Would they ever come up with a thing like war
Let us off this wheel of karma
Let us stop the hands of time
whether you're a visitor or ny native please note: it's not OK to let your kid take a leak on the street. i don't know where you live but here that's frowned upon. especially when grand central is right across the street, with plenty of clean public restrooms.
i happened across this scene on 42nd street this a.m. on my way to work. gross.
ON A TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOTE:
Happy 57th Birthday to Todd Rundgren, one of my favorite musicians.

Just came across this test: try it and see how accurate yours is.
The True You |
You want your girlfriend or boyfriend to be more open with you. |
With respect to money, you spend as little as possible. |
You think good luck is something you won't attain - you expect bad luck. |
The hidden side of your personality tends to be a little selfish. You only do what interests you. |
You are tend to think about others' feelings a lot, perhaps because you are so eager to be liked. |
When it comes to finding a romantic partner, you don't have any particular type in mind, but you are inclined to look for someone who will say yes when you ask him / her out. |
It's Friday afternoon, on an almost summer, almost sunny June afternoon. Meeting an old friend and some of her co-workers for a birthday drink (her's, not mine). I've read some excellent reviews (margaritas rimmed with chili salt) of the restaurant & am looking forward to a Friday night out. The friend, G, has an another friend who's also meeting us there. The other friend, S, is a total knockout and also a total drama queen. I like her but too much of her gives me a headache.
Sunday is Father's Day. It makes me so sad my dad is gone. Internet, if you love your dad make sure he knows it. Not just on Sunday, but everyday. Don't take him for granted because one day he will not be here and you will miss him so much your heart will never be the same.
I've moved up to 4th place (out of 8) in my fantasy baseball league! This is the highest I've been since the beginning of the season.
And, I finished the Sun. Times crossword in 3 days -- that is a record for me.
This is one helluva a trivia question.
Name the 98 players (players only, no managers, coaches, etc) that have played for both the Mets & Yankees.

A few weeks ago I joined a local (outdoor) pool for the summer. So last night I decided to go for an apres-work dip. One of the rules for the ladies is if you have long hair you're supposed to wear a bathing cap (as if!) or put it up. Looking at some of the men there I was wondering since the women had their hair-restrictions, maybe they should impose a maximum body hair limit on the men. Some of the guys were REALLY HAIRY. As in YUCKY UCKY hairy. As in looks like you're wearing a sweater in the pool. Gross.
Had a great time in Philly this weekend. LB is always such a blast to hang with. We checked out Reading Market, some shops in Chinatown and then headed over to her 'hood, the Italian market. Had an excellent dinner at Butchers Cafe on 9th Street which was made even nicer because someone picked up our dinner tab. Sunday had some early morning java, and later on headed over to some quite excellent French restaurant for a crepe brunch. While we there LB made friends with some boys (this always happens with her) who picked up our tab. I definitely should hang with her more often. Anyway, after a walk down South St. it was time for me to head back home.
P.S. Finished "The Glass Castle" -- a four star book. Highly, highly recommended reading.
I'm feeling so much better since my sad sad post of a week ago. Nothing in particular has changed; I just feel better. I was really down in the dumps, now I just feel antsy. One thing I did was get off my ass and made some fun plans for this weekend. I'm headed off to the city of Brotherly Love to visit LB. Last time I saw her we had a great time so I'm hoping to duplicate that. I need a get drunk and laugh my ass off weekend. I need to let go. I need to get laid too but that's not happening anytime soon.
I'm really excited about the book I just got from the library, Glass Castles by Jeanette Walls. It's gotten great reviews and I can't wait to sit down with it. I have a feeling I'm going to have to ration my pages, I don't want to finish it in one night, then I'll have nothing to read on the train.
